Wedding Jewellery Checklist

You’ve picked your dress, shoes and chosen a hairstyle, but when it comes to your wedding day it’s the little details that make a big difference, so we’ve pulled together our "Wedding Jewellery Checklist" to ensure you choose the perfect accessories for your big day…

Number 1:

The cut of your dress can affect what articles of jewellery you can wear. Necklaces work well with lower necklines such as sweetheart and Bardot where there is space to fill, but they can be overwhelming when paired with higher necklines. Also, long or lace sleeves generally mean you should avoid wrist accessories like bangles and bracelets.

Number 2:

Use your bridesmaids for inspiration, as you will no doubt you've picked beautiful outfits and accessories for your bridesmaids, so if you're struggling, why not be inspired by their look? Selecting matching gemstones to tie the whole bridal party together, or if your bridesmaids will be wearing minimal jewellery because of busy dress styles, then choosing a gemstone that matches the tones and colours of their dresses.

Number 3:

Why not incorporate your wedding theme? This can be a good option when making jeweller choices. And, matching your jewellery to your wedding can also mean your it'll serve as a lovely reminder of your big day whenever you wear it afterwards. If you're having a winter wedding, consider choosing pearls or diamonds as a nod to wintery weather, or opt for Celtic symbols if you are having a traditional Irish wedding.

Number 4:

Choose pieces that match your personal style as well as choosing jewellery that compliments your dress and wedding theme. Consider how well certain pieces fit in with your current jewellery collection and if they match your own unique style. If you don't usually wear statement jewellery, and want to be able to wear your wedding jewellery after the big day, you'll want to pick something a little simpler. Similarly, you'll want to pick pieces in the metal that you usually wear. You might also want to match your metal to your engagement ring and wedding band.

Number 5:

Think about how your jewellery will look on camera. Your wedding album and photographs are often a major part of your budget and the expense of hiring a photographer for the day who will capture every moment beautifully and professionally, could be ruined if you’re not happy with the end result, so make sure your jewellery doesn't just look good in person but will also look great on camera. High-quality diamonds, crystals and gemstones will be worth the cost when you see them glint and sparkle under the flash of a camera. Also think about where your photos will be taken, as these can either enhance or dull down your jewellery. For example, sapphire won't look as bright indoors as it will under clear, blue skies.
