Pearls are very often a popular wedding day gift for a bride, but why are pearls associated with weddings, you may be thinking!
Thanks to their fabulous shimmering iridescence, these organic little gems have always been highly prized throughout history, in fact, Cleopatra is said to have dissolved a pearl in a glass of wine before drinking it, simply to show Marc Antony that she could consume the wealth of an entire country in just one meal, and the ancient Greeks associated the pearl with love, marriage, and marital harmony. During the crusades knights wore pearls on the battlefield, believing they held magic powers that would protect them from harm. In the 1500s pearls were so highly regarded that countries across Europe passed laws forbidding anyone apart from nobility to wear them. And even to this day, they are still a popular choice for royalty, especially at weddings. Queen Elizabeth II wore them at her wedding and over in the USA, Jacqueline Bouvier wore a strand the day she became Mrs Kennedy, which was almost royalty.

Stick To A Colour Palette...
